Teachers' Day in Turkey (24 November): Flowers for Your Child's Teacher

In Turkey, 24 November is Teachers' Day (Öğretmenler Günü) — the day pupils and parents thank their teachers. In 2026 it falls on a Tuesday, so schools are open and you can send flowers straight to the school.

Which flowers for a teacher?

• A potted plant — the most popular gift among teachers. It lives for weeks in the classroom or staff room. Browse potted plants.
• A small, cheerful bouquet — daisies and gerberas are bright and easy to take home.
• Seasonal flowers — made from what's freshest in November; seasonal and wild flowers are a good middle ground.

Red roses carry a romantic meaning, so they're not right for a teacher; white, yellow, pink and orange are the usual choices.

Budget: sincere, not showy

Teachers' Day is about saying thank you. Expensive gifts can put a teacher in an awkward position, and many schools ask parents not to give valuable presents. A potted plant or a small bouquet with a handwritten note is the right choice. If the whole class is chipping in, one larger arrangement works well.

How school delivery works

• Write the school's full name and address, the teacher's full name and their class if you know it.
• Flowers are usually handed to the school office or security; delivery in the morning, during school hours, is best.
• Add a phone number (yours or the school's) so the florist can confirm delivery.
• Orders placed before 12:00 noon Turkey time are delivered the same day, but on such a busy day it's safest to order a few days ahead and pick the date in the calendar.
