How to Send Flowers Internationally: A Step-by-Step Guide
A birthday in Berlin, a graduation in London, International Women's Day in Moscow — when the people you love live far away, flowers are still the quickest way to say "I'm thinking of you". Here is how international flower delivery actually works, and what to watch out for.
Flowers aren't shipped — they're made locally
Fresh flowers don't survive days in a courier box, and plant-health rules make shipping live plants across borders difficult. The reliable way is to order where you are and have the bouquet made by a local florist in the recipient's country. That's exactly how FlowerEast works: you order online, the flowers are arranged fresh in the destination country on the delivery day, and hand-delivered to the door.
Step by step
- Choose the delivery country. Products and prices update to that country.
- Pick the flowers. A colourful bouquet for a birthday, roses for love, flowers in a box for Mum. Each country's range can differ — what you see is what can be delivered there.
- Choose the delivery date. International orders are usually placed a few days ahead: from 2 days for Germany, the UK and France, and 3 days for Russia. Turkey offers same-day delivery for orders before noon.
- Enter the recipient's details. Full name, phone number and full address. The phone number lets the florist reach the recipient at the door.
- Add a card message. A short, personal note makes all the difference. If the recipient doesn't read your language, write in theirs or in English.
- Pay securely. Prices are shown in the destination currency; your card is charged in Turkish lira with 3D Secure, and the exact amount is shown before you pay.
Currencies and prices
You'll see euros for Germany and France, pounds for the UK and roubles for Russia — a sign that the flowers really are made in that country. Delivery is free, and you see the final charge before paying.
Writing a foreign address
- Germany: street + house number, then postcode + city (Hauptstraße 12, 10115 Berlin).
- UK: house/flat number, street, town and always the postcode (SW1A 1AA).
- France: number + street, postcode + city (12 rue de Rivoli, 75001 Paris), plus the door code if there is one.
- Russia: city, street, building and flat number, and the entrance and floor if known.
Plan special days by country
Mother's Day isn't on the same date everywhere: it's the second Sunday of May in Turkey, Germany and the US, in March in the UK, the last Sunday of May in France and the last Sunday of November in Russia — where 8 March is the biggest flower day of all. See all the dates in Mother's Day around the world.
Mind the cultural differences
A flower that means love in one country can mean mourning in another: chrysanthemums are for graves in France, and even numbers of flowers are for funerals in Russia. Read flower etiquette around the world before you choose.
