Mother's Day Dates Around the World (2026–2027)

Whether you're sending flowers to a mother abroad or to your own mum back home, the first thing to know is that Mother's Day isn't on the same day everywhere. In some countries it's in March, in others at the end of May or even in November — and a surprise planned for the wrong date arrives too early or too late.

• Russia: last Sunday of November — 29 November 2026
• United Kingdom (Mothering Sunday): three weeks before Easter Sunday — 7 March 2027
• Arab world (widely in the UAE, Egypt and Saudi Arabia): 21 March every year
• Turkey, Germany, Austria, the Netherlands, Belgium, the US: second Sunday of May — 9 May 2027
• France (Fête des Mères): last Sunday of May — 30 May 2027 (moved to the first Sunday of June if it clashes with Pentecost)

Why are the dates so different?

The UK's Mothering Sunday comes from an old tradition tied to Lent, so it moves with Easter each year. The second-Sunday-of-May tradition started in the United States in the early 1900s and spread to many countries, including Turkey and Germany. Across much of the Arab world, Mother's Day is celebrated on 21 March, the first day of spring. Russia has marked Mother's Day in November since 1998 — but the day Russian mothers really receive flowers is 8 March, International Women's Day.

A tip for the Turkish diaspora

If you live in Germany, Austria, the Netherlands or Belgium, Mother's Day falls on the same day as in Turkey. For same-day delivery in Turkey, order before 12:00 noon Turkey time on the day — though ordering a few days ahead is always safer. Living in the UK? Don't mix the two up: Mothering Sunday is in March, Turkish Mother's Day is in May.

Ordering for a mother abroad

International orders need to be placed at least 2–3 days ahead (2 days for Germany, the UK and France, 3 for Russia). Mother's Day week is the busiest of the year for florists, so ordering a week early guarantees the flowers and the date you want.
