Sending Flowers to Germany: What You Need to Know

Germany is home to one of the largest international communities in Europe, and flowers remain one of the most popular gifts there — from Muttertag bouquets to a thank-you for a dinner invitation. Here is what you need to know before sending flowers to Germany.

How far ahead should you order?

Orders to Germany can be scheduled from 2 days ahead. Simply choose the date at checkout. For busy days — Muttertag, Valentine's Day, the weeks before Christmas — a week's notice is safest.

With Germany selected, all prices are shown in euros. Payment is taken by card with 3D Secure; your card is charged in Turkish lira and the exact amount appears at checkout. Delivery is free.

How to write a German address

• Recipient's full name (doorbells usually show surnames only)
• Street name + house number: Hauptstraße 12
• Postcode + city: 10115 Berlin

If a different name is on the doorbell — a flatmate, for example — add "bei Schmidt" after the street line. Always include the recipient's phone number.

Muttertag and other key dates

• Muttertag (Mother's Day): the second Sunday of May — 9 May in 2027.
• Valentinstag: 14 February.
• Birthdays: celebrating a birthday before the day is considered bad luck in Germany, so aim for delivery on the day itself or just after.

German flower etiquette

• Red roses are romantic. For colleagues, teachers or hosts, choose a mixed bouquet instead.
• White lilies and chrysanthemums are associated with funerals and graves.
• Odd numbers are traditional (but avoid 13); this matters less for ready-made bouquets.
